Pearl Jam is an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. Since its inception, the band’s line-up has included Eddie Vedder (lead vocals, guitar), Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), and Mike McCready (lead guitar). The band’s current drummer is Matt Cameron, formerly of Soundgarden, who has been with the band since 1998. Formed after the demise of Ament and Gossard’s previous band Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with its debut album, Ten. One of the key bands of the grunge movement in the early 1990s, Pearl Jam was criticized early on—most notably by Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain—as being a corporate cash-in on the alternative rock explosion. However, over the course of the band’s career its members became noted for their refusal to adhere to traditional music industry practices, including refusing to make music videos and engaging in a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster. In 2006, Rolling Stone described the band as having “spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame.” Since its inception, the band has sold over thirty million records in the U.S., and an estimated sixty million albums worldwide. Pearl Jam has outlasted many of its contemporaries from the alternative rock breakthrough of the early 1990s, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the decade. Allmusic calls Pearl Jam “the most popular American rock & roll band of the ’90s.

i like pearl jam, but i don’t understand how eddie is a vegetarian and pro choice. so killing an animal is bad, but murdering a baby is alright? for any other PETA members out there, you’re crazy. all i have to say to you is go mike vick and sometimes i like to put my cat in the microwave.

agreed the onyl way your voice stays the same for 20 years of singing is just dumb luck…Dennis Deyoung from sticks doesent siund any different now than 30 years ago and hes 62 but he also doesent scream like vedder screaming really takes a toal on your voice

i like pearl jam …
i like pearl jam and all but for someone who is anti-war, anti-death penalty and for human rights and all that, i think in being pro-choice hes kinda contradicting himself. hes basically saying that he supports women that want to murder their fetus/unborn baby.i dont care though, really. i still think its an awesome band and he can have what ever opinion he wants, just like i can have my own opinions. its just pretty odd he would agree with abortions.

everyone needs to look at the big picture. ed has his own opinions and he chooses to voice his own opinions. you dont have to agree with him. he’s not telling everyone they have to think like him. i respect ed because he’s open about his views and doesnt care what anyone thinks. i myself are pro choice. a woman doesnt choose to get raped. and of course ed is not going to sound the same as he did 20 yrs ago, but for me he only gets better with age. LONG LIVE PEARL JAM FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha… hilarious how the commenting turned into a “Pro-Choice” discussion. Haven’t you people noticed what’s on the little screen? It’s PEARL JAM! Giving a good performance and you’re just wasting finger-movement with never-ending subjective matters instead of listening to the music in front of you… Anyway, I’m Pro Free-Will, if you want to go there. There are always …
