Here is a jam we did with a VJ, nothing planned out beforehand. We did this at Springs Theatre Studio in tampa, on a monday night where they bring musicians in to teach people studio production. It sounds like it was loud but everything was very very low volume, way lower than I am used to playing. Guitar players will probably skip to 3:20 or 4:36
Anyway, check it out.

Here’s some rough mixes from Saturday 7-17-2010, plus a bonus jam from 4 days before (on Wednesday with Matt on Drums)
Second Sat Session with Shankh. I am going to call it “Indian Prayer for Peace” I think:
First Sat Session with Bobo:
First Saturday session with Bobo, a little funkier
Wed Session with Matt (This one is much more aggressive, being away from the refining influences of Tabla and Keyboards ) Sorry we boned you on the drum sound Matt, we’ll get it better…
Wed Session with Matt, Steve, and Kevin, a little more harder edged

Really Fun Jam with guitar bass and tablas

This week we were blessed with Shankh who is an amazing tabla player. If you want to hire him for a gig you can reach him at shankh.tabla at gmail. Pay him lots of money so he can keep making the trip over here from Tampa.
This is Stevy on guitar, Kevin Ryan on Bass, And Shankh on Tabla. Sadly, Matt Webb also played drums, but we didn’t record the drums for some reason. Anyway, he was in there too. You can kind of hear him because the tabla mikes picked up a little bit of him.
Because of the tablas, we went very mahavishnu in places, and even a little peter frampton at the end. Check it out. Great music to wash your dishes to.

Indialucia plays Bulerias

Bulerias Kyabathe from their first album played by Indialucia group.
Miguel Czachowski on flamenco guitar
Avaneendra Sheolikar on sitar
Sandesh Popatkar on tabla
Dobroslaw Filip on cajon
Directed and edited by Ville Tanttu
The Indian exclamation kyabathe, just as the Spanish expression, ole! , is shouted spontaneously by musicians and public to express their enthusiasm. In this piece the exclamations are not lacking, which is typical for such dynamic forms of flamenco such as the bulerías. This composition also implicates those elements, which in Indian music besides mysticism are expressions, instrumental virtuosity and sense of rhythm. The elements of both cultures are dovetailed in this composition, which is based on most near to a flamenco scale – in Indian music it is referred as basant mukhari.

This interpretation of the classic ghazal features Rohini Ravada on vocals and Shankar Tucker on keyboards, clarinet, and tabla.
This is one of my favorite compositions of all time. Unfortunately I had to leave off the last verse in order to keep the time suitable for a YouTube video. I will release the full version with all verses as part of an album later on.
