Mina Sambinha is a song I wrote inspired by brazilian music and accordion/bandoneon, specially the superb french player Marc Berthoumieux. This time I play with MIDI guitar. Jazz Guitar
I have a broad of influences toward Jazz Guitar. Brazilian music specially is a endless source of inspiration. I was particularly touched for this tune creation by talents, music and human spirit of artists like Ivan Lins and his extraordinary band (have to listen Leonardo Amuedo!) and Joao Bosco also with a incredible staff of band-mates and guest musicians like Gonzalo Rubalcaba in Incompatibilidade De Genios. And of course…Tom Jobim, always present and alive forever!
Technical stuff
I did play a Godin xtSA blending the electric guitar pickups with a bit of piezo acoustic spice, there is too the midi guitar synth controlling a french accordion sound from RS5 keyboard via Roland Gi-20 Midi converter. Pure MIDI guitar..!
I composed and recorded this song with the help of amazing program Band in Box 2008 – www.pgmusic.com – including live “on the fly” electric and Midi guitar performance direct to the stereo audio track available in Band in a Box.. not overdubs or edits..it was HARD!! because, beside the playing itself, there are real time switching between electric, acoustic and midi, I got a decent version after 3 or 4 attempts. Band in a Box is, to me, a invaluable practicing, composing/arranger assistant tool for musicians, song writers, jazzers, composers and students..I can assure it had been a fundamental key in my
musical growth and jazz guitar player.

Very sorry about the long delay of getting a new video up but I’ve recently had to deal with the deadly tendinitis on my right arm. I am just now getting over it and decided to put this song up in memory of when I first arrived in Canada in 2003.
This was the first song I wrote for the classical guitar after 3 years of playing. I was in a place where everything didn’t feel right in my new home here in Canada after being deported from America (read bio for more info on that). I quickly knew that I had to adapt myself yet again, and now I love it here! This piece has stuck with me ever since the beginning and after a few changes from the original version here is the latest.
This song is played on a Cole Clark FL2AC and is recorded with both a Rode NT4 mic plus the Face Brace sensor inside the guitar for a natural acoustic sound. Check those beauties out!

I know that some of you may say that this solo is weird and that it is not the bass guitar to play like that, but first – if this guitar can play like that, is to say that you may play like that, and second – only by breaking stereotypes, by combining styles and techniques, through the syncretism of forms, we can get something new, original and better – the one who copies the style of the others, it is predictable and not make the art of music anything that was pushing the story forward.
“Meditation” song was composed by me in this year. Recorded for 7-string Conklin bass guitar with loop station, zoom multieffect and drum machine. Max. 9 basses at the same time.
The main technique I usually use is two-handed tapping, but in this case I use the others, such as one-handed tapping, scratch, picking, sweep picking, fingering or ‘natural’ and ‘artificial’ harmonics. Effects I used are: reverb, distortion, delay and acoustic (some mixed together).
