From speed kills 2, the number one shredder of all time (as he was ranked by some guitar magazine I don’t remember), Michael Angelo Batio shows some cool arpeggio licks that mostly require fast sweep picking, hammers and pull offs, and alternate picking. Tablature is shown for the two examples and they are also played at two tempos, slow and fast.

Very sorry about the long delay of getting a new video up but I’ve recently had to deal with the deadly tendinitis on my right arm. I am just now getting over it and decided to put this song up in memory of when I first arrived in Canada in 2003.
This was the first song I wrote for the classical guitar after 3 years of playing. I was in a place where everything didn’t feel right in my new home here in Canada after being deported from America (read bio for more info on that). I quickly knew that I had to adapt myself yet again, and now I love it here! This piece has stuck with me ever since the beginning and after a few changes from the original version here is the latest.
This song is played on a Cole Clark FL2AC and is recorded with both a Rode NT4 mic plus the Face Brace sensor inside the guitar for a natural acoustic sound. Check those beauties out!

Applying a light touch and a few pick attakcs for good measure, you too can whiz your way through three note-per-string patterns like legato legends Allan Holdsworth and Joe Satriani. This four-bar tour-de-force is derived from the C and Ab Lydian scales and is inspired by Satch’s stellar soloing in the title track from his “Flying in a Blue Dream” CD.

My name is Eddie Carlson, and this is the first violin cover of Eric Johnson’s epic “Cliffs of Dover.” I hope you enjoy my performance.
I am playing a Yamaha SV-200 through a Boss ME-50 effects pedal.
The audio/video sync is a little off…I think it just has something to do with being uploaded to youtube because there’s no similar latency when the actual video file plays on my computer. Oh well.
I don’t have the sheet music for this song, so I can’t send it to you – sorry. Check out the guitar tabs, they’re posted online everywhere, that’s how I learned it.
May 9 2010: I didn’t realize I could change the title after posting a video. When I first made the video, I jammed “guitar hero” in the title to score views. I definitely agree, Eric Johnson is amazing and it’s a cover of his song, not a cover form guitar hero. I give you…the new title, EJ fans rejoice! : )
