Physically, “Fingerstyle” refers to using each of the right hand fingers independently in order to play the multiple parts of a musical arrangement that would normally be played by several band members. Dire Straits – Six Blade Knife (Acoustic cover)

The album version have a slower tempo than my cover (I hope it will not disturb so much the “musical habits” of some Dire Straits fans!). Sorry for the poor quality video… but don’t hesitate to rate and comment the music!

- A “classic” song from the first album of Dire Straits (1978). I play here with a kind of “hybrid” finger picking, between JJ Cale and Mark Knopfler’s style, but in a more simple way than these great masters!

- There are only four instruments : two guitars, one bass, one drum … this is the essence of rock… but with a fluid, elegant, minimalist guitar playing by Knopfler. An excellent and fine drum playing by Pick Withers, a basic but efficient bass playing by John Illsley, and David Knopfler on rythm guitar.
- An absolutely wonderful and rare demo version of “Six blade knife”, a magnificent solo on a rapid tempo!!!

- Ma reprise à la guitare acoustique d’un morceau du premier album de Dire Straits (1978). Le tempo original est un peu plus lent, et mon “style” est ici un peu hybride entre celui de Knopfler et de JJ Cale… à vous de dire si vous appréciez en évaluant et commentant!
- L’album “Dire Straits” est une “révélation guitaristique” pour le monde du rock qui découvre le fantastique et désormais incontournable jeu aux doigts (sans médiator) de Mark Knopfler, dans la lignée du guitariste country Chet Atkins. En résumé, une virtuosité et un toucher exceptionnels, un son reconnaissable entre milles, une mise place rythmique impeccable, des compositions inspirées et devenant rapidement des “classiques” du rock.
- Un très beau duo Chet Atkins / Mark Knopfler, permettant de bien entendre ce que donner un jeu aux doigts à la main droite (“finger picking” pour les anglo-saxons), ici dans un style country:
