Maneli Jamal – Morning In Adanac (2010)

TABS Available at http://www.manelijamal.com/tabs.html

Very sorry about the long delay of getting a new video up but I’ve recently had to deal with the deadly tendinitis on my right arm. I am just now getting over it and decided to put this song up in memory of when I first arrived in Canada in 2003.

This was the first song I wrote for the classical guitar after 3 years of playing. I was in a place where everything didn’t feel right in my new home here in Canada after being deported from America (read bio for more info on that). I quickly knew that I had to adapt myself yet again, and now I love it here! This piece has stuck with me ever since the beginning and after a few changes from the original version here is the latest.

This song is played on a Cole Clark FL2AC and is recorded with both a Rode NT4 mic plus the Face Brace sensor inside the guitar for a natural acoustic sound. Check those beauties out!

Featuring 14 original compositions, Maneli Jamal’s new CD ‘The Ziur Movement’ is now available on the youtube channel and iTunes!!

Aces High one-armed bass cover with solo

Iron Maiden’s Aces High. It’s been years since I covered a Maiden song so I thought it was about time!

I tried some new things out in this video – I tried to learn the guitar solos as they’re played rather than improvise them. I also tried a little bit of tapping. Not easy with one hand! Let me know what you think of these things.

Apologies about the light in the background. I don’t know why it was so bright. I closed my curtains and put more light around me to try and compensate.

If you’re interested in seeing how to play the solo on a bass, check out my other video “How to play the Aces High solo on bass” which I posted as a video response.

Update – Honours for this video!

‘Stairway to Heaven’ for Solo Bass, Zander Zon

My solo album – Sonorous – is now available on CD Baby:

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ZanderZon

(Also available on iTunes.)

I’ve heard several excellent covers of ‘Stairway to Heaven’ on guitar, piano and cello, and I was really inspired to try to do a version on the bass. Quite randomly, I found a tuning that worked nicely: A F# C# E…
Originally, I had pretty much the whole tune worked out (except for the solo), but I just didn’t think the fast parts sounded that good. So, I decided to arrange this piece around the slower parts that I found most beautiful. Hope you enjoy it!

50 Jazz Guitar Licks You MUST Know – Lick #44: ii-V7 Bop Riffs – Frank Vignola

FULL COURSE: http://su.pr/2qKNwT

More guitar lessons: http://su.pr/2YAuC1

On Twitter – http://www.twitter.com/truefiretv

On Faceboook – http://www.truefire.com/facebook

In this ii-V7 lick we start with a nice melodic statement using an interval jump. Then we follow it up with a scalar pattern that leads into an arpeggio. So, we are utilizing the different techniques we have been learning in other licks. This is a good lick to learn in different keys and positions. It may take a little practice with the slow rhythm track to get this lick under your fingers. The fast tempo is a realistically bright tempo that jazzers play so take the time practice slowly building the speed of your eighth note lines.
